Just over a couple months ago I received a message from my friend Darcy that lived in Victoria. Darcy told me that he was moving to Courtenay and wanted to set up his Kettlebells at my club. It didnt take me more then a few seconds to reply and say I would be more then happy to set him up with a time slot and a few people to teach.
Looking back now that was one of the best decisions I made since I became the owner of the club.
Darcy is Dragondoor certified as an instructor which is by no means an easy achievement. There is only 2 on the island and now we have one. Darcy has also designed a workout that compliments the kickboxing and mma movements and we are seeing  faster ,stronger and quicker athletes then ever before.
You dont have to be interested in combat sports to benefit from a kettlebell workout. People of all shape and sizes will see fast results and can even prevent back pain and stubburn injuries.
A little history on kettlebells and why they are affective: Kettlebells were developed in Russia in the 1700s, primarily for weighing crops. It is said that these farmers became stronger and found them useful for showing off their strength during festivals. The Soviet army used them as part of their physical training and conditioning programs in the 20th century. They had been used for competition and sports throughout Russia and Europe since the 1940s. Though kettlebells had been in the United States in some form since the 1960s or earlier, Dragon Door Publications and Pavel Tsatsouline developed the first instructor
certification program in the USA in 2001.
Some of the benefits include:
Helps achieve that King Leonidas body           You’ll have an easier time performing daily
activities
You’ll fire up more muscles
You’ll lose more weight in less time
You’ll realize you’re stronger than you thought
Your posture will improve
You’ll boost your rear in one move ( that means a nice booty)
This is just to name a few.
Since starting this class I have heard nothing but good things. I even enjoy taking the class myself. I have been working out for over 20 years and have never had faster gains in strength since joining in on this class.
I see people smiling and laughing because of the games that are being played. Kids in the bag room while their parents are pushing themselves. The atmoshphere is pretty light but that doesnt mean that it isnt an intense workout. Everyone is pouring with sweat by the end and satisfied that they achived more in an hour then you would in twice that time doing a conventional workout.
If you are interested in taking this class please send me a message here on our website or drop by any Tuesday or Thursday night at 7pm to give it a try. ** Remember, first class is FREE
