The Comox Valley Boxing Club first opened its doors in 1984 under leadership of former World Kickboxing champion Lloyd Anderson. Under his tutelage professional fighters such as Kevin Reynolds learned the skills and gained the experience to become amateur fighters and now professional boxers.

Since then these walls have witnessed some noteworthy battles, as fighters continue to grow in both body and mind.

The past four years have presented an interesting challenge to Jonny Mac, the current owner.  He's been a professional rugby player and amateur boxer throughout his life and he's been driven to develop his own technical skill.  He's cut his teeth at a Muay Thai-camp in Thailand, rolled with some of the top UFC fighters (who will help bring their lessons to the students in CVBC) and hopefully soon he will be hosting seminars bringing professional athletes to the valley.  5 years ago Jonny made this club his only priority, and is confident it will continue to grow into the gym it was under Lloyd's ownership, but it will reflect the trend towards MMA and kickboxing, not just boxing.
